vague ( ) space are an indie/punk collective hailing (mostly) from bothwell in the glasgow suburbs. their influences include (but are not limited to) the clash, jesus and mary chain, the simpsons, pixies, teenage fanclub, hunter s. thompson and iron maiden. their ranks include martin on guitar and vocals, stuart on guitar and backing vocals, barry who deals in nothing but low-end frequencies and andy who hits things.

they started out on their road to self discovery in 2001 when none of them really knew how to play the instruments that they found directly in front of them. they have now progressed past the level of dumb beasts to become if not exactly proficient in their respected fields then competent to some lesser degree. they also by now have a great many songs written, all of which have been designed to be visually memorable and all of them mind-blowing.

v( )s have accomplished many things in their time as an outfit and are proud of around 70% of them. gigs have been played, plenty of mistakes have been made, beers have been drank, other bands have been pissed off, amps have been turned up to eleven and thoroughly shagged, arguments have been settled by fisticuffs and most importantly fun has been had and groundwork for world conquering excellence has been layed.

the band are currently being driven to the point of suicide by the current crop of sycophantic, nme-endorsed, million-selling (yet desperately poor) bands which pollute the airwaves, tv stations and gig venues up and down the country. let’s face it, these bands deserve nothing more than to be put to death in the most violent and grisly was possible. the main culprits include (but are not limited to) franz ferdinand, snow patrol, babyshambles (just say no kids), razorlight and keane. v( )s in fact despises most of the “indie” scene today and wants less than nothing to do with it.

when not stuck in a permanent misanthropic stupor v( )s’s hobbies include cock fighting, sea faring, ram raiding and purchasing drugs from sean ryder to sell to impressionable young children. they also have some aims which they would like to achieve should the mood take them. these include overcoming the ennui which pervades the youth of today, destroying the foundations of a major religion, finding out who killed jfk, stalking various minor celebrities and finally freeing the working class from its chains.
